CanStart’s staff makes sure that you have a place to live and a friend to talk to. Call us to speak with an experienced and caring person ready to help, whatever your challenge or success.
What we do for our students
Airport pickup
We meet you at Toronto Pearson and take you to your homestay or residence. Included for CanStart students.
Arriving at the airport can be an anxious moment. It can also be the most exciting. CanStart makes sure you feel comfortable from your first moments in Canada. Airport pickup and drop-off are free for all CanStart students.
Orientation
In your first days we help with practical things. We help you open a bank account and get a SIM card, a transit pass and health insurance. We also show you the route to your school.
Ongoing contact
We check in during your first months and ask how your studies are going. You can reach our Toronto team by phone, WhatsApp or Viber.
Parents
Parents know who to call in Canada, in English, Ukrainian or Russian.
Custodianship and accommodation
Custodianship
A custodian is the most important person in Canada for international students who are minors (under 18), until they turn 18 or 19. A Custodianship Declaration is a document required for a visa application for a minor who is travelling without parents.
Our partner, the separate Custodianship Student Support Agency (custodianship.ca), does more than provide a document: it gives your child 24/7 emergency contact, emotional and academic support, and help with day-to-day routines. Not 18 yet? You need a custodian to travel to Canada.
Accommodation
Our partner custodianship.ca finds a homestay or books a place in a student residence for you or your child.
Student residence, rented apartment or homestay family: custodianship.ca helps you understand which option to choose, how to prepare the paperwork, how to protect your rights and how to build a relationship with your landlord. Need a place to live? Apply on custodianship.ca
Custodianship and homestay for students under 18 are provided by the separate Custodianship Student Support Agency (custodianship.ca).
