Many international students want to stay and work in Canada after graduation. The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) makes this possible for eligible graduates.
Step 1: Complete your program
A PGWP can only be obtained by graduates of eligible programs at Canadian educational institutions. Once you have your diploma, certificate or another document that proves you have completed your program, you have 180 days to apply for the permit.
Step 2: Submit the application
The application is submitted online. You will need:
- A computer with a camera.
- Electronic copies of your diploma and transcript.
- A letter from your school confirming that you have completed the program.
- A bank card to pay the fee.
Step 3: Watch the deadlines
You must have valid status in Canada when you apply. Check the expiry date of your study permit early, because the timing rules are strict.
PGWP rules, including language and field of study requirements, change often. CanStart Group does not provide immigration advice. Immigration advice is provided separately by a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) at immigration.korpalo.ca.
